Design Process

One of two approaches; Pattern analysis process and Survey, Analysis, Design approach

  • The use of functional diagrams to establish a sound functional basis for the design solution.  Crucial to the design process in order to be able to study the overall functional organisation of the site.

  • A site inventory and analysis to identify all the vital conditions of the site and determine how they influence the final design solution.

  • Form and spatial composition; an understanding of the ways shapes relate to each other is at the very heart of garden design, as it is the creation of a strong ground pattern that is vital to the success of any project.

  • The development of a Sketch Plan and then a Master Plan.
