The Design Process
“Design is not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works.”
Let’s begin…
We understand that when you want a professionally designed garden it can seem a complicated process with so many aspects of the design to consider.
You may have very clear ideas of what you want but are not sure how to implement them. Or perhaps you’re looking for some creative suggestions?
Let us guide you on an exciting journey of making your garden dreams a reality. We will help you to realise a garden that is perfect for you and your needs.
Initial consultation
After your initial enquiry, we would be delighted to meet with you to discuss how we make your garden dreams into a reality.
Your needs, style preferences and wishes are at the very heart of our design process.
We will explain the whole design process from start to finish including budgets.
Site Survey
An accurate survey of the garden will be carried out.
On larger or more complex projects this will be done by a land surveyor.
The survey enables us to determine the different heights of the garden, where important site elements are located and any current areas of planting.
Sketch Plan and Conceptual Drawings
After careful consideration of all aspects of the design brief we will produce a master sketch plan, conceptual drawings and supporting visual representations of the design.
Specification Documents
A detailed specification document showing design materials, setting out and construction drawings is drawn up for the landscape contractor in order for them to build the garden.
Planting Plans
Right plant, right place.
We will produce professionally drawn-up planting plans showing the exact location of all plants.
We use only reputable and reliable nurseries to ensure top quality plants.
These planting plans also serve as a reference as your garden matures.
Planning Advice and Applications
If need be we will consult with local planners and advise if any planning permissions or consents are required for the project.
Utility companies are contacted for information about any underground services.
